Heart-Strong International (HSI) is a global education company providing providing parent and teacher training, coaching and support for parents and teachers of children with childhood adversity leading to anxiety and developmental trauma.

HSI offers professional certification programs for those who want to become trauma-informed, healing-centered Parent Coaches, Educational Trainers, and Trauma-Informed Specialists.

Our certified graduates work in schools, community organizations and with private clients to promote growth and healing using our powerful Heart-Strong Model of Growth and Healing.

Sandi Lerman, MA Ed. is the Founder and Program Director of Heart-Strong International. She is the proud Mama Bear of Hiro, a young adult adopted at age 10 who has overcome extreme challenges resulting from complex developmental trauma.

Sandi brings her optimism and creativity to the task of parenting and teaching and knows from experience that with the right mindset and heart-strong commitment, even the worst situation can be transformed so that we can build loving, connected family and classroom relationships.

Sandi is an educator with over 25 years of classroom teaching experience in K-12 and adult education settings with credentials in English language arts, English as a Second Language/ESOL, foreign language, and interpreting.

Sandi has been a coordinator for two state-wide parenting and community mental health education programs in Indiana, and is a certified trainer of Youth Mental Health First Aid and QPR Suicide Prevention.

She has done in-depth studies and certification programs in a variety of somatic and holistic trauma healing modalities and was honored to be selected into the 2023 cohort of the Dream Bigger Foundation’s Transformational Teacher training program.

Sandi is also a former American Sign Language interpreter, speaks Spanish, and has lived and worked as an educator in both Scotland and Mexico.
