Weekly WINGS
Wisdom and Inspiration Nurturing Growth and Success
I was planning to write about a completely different topic, but a dear friend and colleague has been on my mind today.
So I decided to pause to let you all know what’s going on and also share a bit of her wisdom and inspiration with you this week.
Dr. Mona Delahooke is someone whose work encapsulates so much of what I believe in about parenting and supporting children, especially those like mine who have developmental trauma, anxiety, disabilities, and differences that make life extra challenging.
As many of you know, her award-winning book, Beyond Behaviors, is required reading for all of our HSI Trauma-Informed Certification programs.
Sadly, Mona is in the ICU following a serious medical emergency.
Here Friday’s post from her business page:
I am sure that Mona’s family is extremely concerned about her health and recovery right now and would appreciate all the loving prayers, wishes, and intentions that you would like to send her way.
If you’d like, you can also post a comment on the original post from her business page, Mona Delahooke, PhD.
My mom, Rose Lerman, also survived a cerebral hemorrhage from a ruptured brain aneurysm many many years ago, when I was only ten years old. My sister and I have also been involved in charity events through the American Stroke Association. So this one really hits home.
The good news is that medical advances have come so far over the past few decades, and the chances of recovery from an injury like this are much better than they were in the past.
In my mom’s case, she survived and then went on to live a long and happy life, despite some mobility, memory, and cognitive issues.
Let’s all hold Mona up in love and light as she works hard to recover and return to her work as a powerful force of good in the world of child development!
You can click the image below to watch a recording of an interview I did with Mona last February celebrating the publishing of her most recent book, Brain-Body Parenting. As always, she gives fantastic advice and inspiration for families:
Enjoy the video, and I also encourage you to visit her website to enjoy the many wonderful articles, courses, and books that she has available there.
Dr. Delakooke has made such a huge difference in the lives of parents, children, and educators all over the globe. Thank you so much for your work, Mona!
Give all your loved ones extra hugs tonight… and let’s all look forward to continuing to learn more from Mona as soon as she is back on her feet again!
